I zonked out from my lovely dramamine. I woke up to the French countryside and Sacred Heart in the distance. wow.
The taxi drive was awesome, I realized that I understood a lot more French that I had thought but thinking of what to say in response is my problem... Charlie hasn't lost anything, I'm so proud. :) Our hotel is right on this little tiny one way street in the Latin Quarter and is surrounded by little cafes, crepe stands (YUM), bookstores (and clothing stores), restaurants and ice cream stands. I'm in heaven. Really. Our room is very very small so I proceeded to unpack our stuff and put all of the suitcases on top of the wardrobe so we would have room to walk. We headed to the nearest crepe stand and got our sandwiches and a nutella & banana crepe. :) :) :)
We walked around for a while and discovered that the Pantheon is literally 5 minutes from our hotel so we went in there. So amazing.... simply stunning you guys - put it on your list. The crypt below is filled with some of the great French people - Victor Hugo, Rousseau (no, not the lady from Lost), the Curries... it was really amazing.

From there we walked to the Luxembourg Gardens and Palace and sat there for a while, just soaking it all in.
We came back to the hotel to relax a bit - we really are exhausted - and Charlie wanted to watch the Wimbledon final... which I have to say was bloody brilliant! Right outside our hotel door there is a French restaurant that we decided to check out for dinner, at 9 pm... it was good I guess. Vegetarian at a restaurant apparently means all you must eat is vegetables. :\ So thats what I had. lol But I had creme brule and coffee for dessert and that made up for it! We had a the musicians walking around with their accordions playing French music... it was pretty fantastic, I'm not going to lie.
Today (the 7th) we slept in again (I don't know why we're soooo tired?) and headed out for a breakfast crepe (egg, tomatoes, cheese and mushrooms) before heading out in the rain to the metro station, which is right down the road from the hotel. We made it though the French directions and changed trains without a problem to head to the Eiffel Tower. :) If the weather hadn't been so terrible (mainly the wind) we would've gone up, but we're saving that for later in the week when it'll be warmer and not so chilly. But seriously I'm so in love with it here. The music is playing everywhere, the food is amazing and the city itself is beautiful!!!
Now I've had a chance to rest my feet and we're going to head out down our little street, find a market to get some food and check out the shops. :)
Keep in touch you guys!!!

I have been watching the Tour De France since 6;00 a.m and thinking of you in France. I hope you can look at the tour schedule and watch a stage go by some time while you are touring. One of my thrills of being in Paris in 2000 was listening to our national anthem play with Lance Armstrong at the podium.
Love your pictures and descriptions and so glad you are having a good time. I remember how yummy the crepes are/were.
